Just wondering. A friend of mine just bought one. It has Manual Focus only.

Yes, I believe Peter Burke who frequently posts in the manual focus Nikkor thread uses the 600mm f4 Ai-S Nikkor.

It is a somewhat big and hefty lens, but when used right it delivers excellent results.
Also works well with the TC16 from what I see in Peters images. I hope he sees this thread and posts here as well

My friend Mark Schwall uses the Ai-S f/4. He shoots mostly larger birds where manual focus works pretty well.

I have the 600/5.6 ais too. By coincidence this week I posted the image below at the Nikon MF glass thread:

D7200 (1.3x crop mode) + Nikkor 600mm f/5.6 ais EDIF + tripod + Manfrotto gimbal head; ISO 1600, f/5.6 at 1/200s. 53.2% crop (8.2/15.4Mb).
