p.1 #1 · How to link to photos in Smug Mug galleries

I just wrote a long post and attempted to embed the pictures within the body of the post at the right spots. I was told that all I needed to do was include the URL of the individual picture. So that's what I did but it seems the URL simply takes the viewer to my entire SmugMug gallery, not to the individual picture that I'm trying to link into the right spot.

As far as I can figure out the only other way to post pictures results in them all appearing at the bottom of the copy rather than properly positioned within the copy. If someone can please explain the right way to do what I'm trying to do, I'd appreciate it. I'll then upload my post and delete this one.

Thank you very much.

You need to keep clicking to drill down into your SmugMug gallery until the URL in your browser shows an address that ends in filename.jpg. Copy that address and paste it into your post wherever you want it.

If you have certain security policies turned on for your gallery, that might interfere.

Post a link to your gallery if you want and maybe we can help you further.

So here's what I learned. In order to link to a particular picture in a Smug Mug gallery you can't just open the gallery and copy the URL that appears above the picture. That will just get you to the gallery.

What you need to do is to pick the picture you want. It then appears enlarged in the gallery. Then go to the "Share" tab above the picture and off to the right. Clicking on this tab will open a window with a number of choices in size. Since I uploaded an image that was already sized to 1000 pixels I chose "Original" and clicked on the button that says "COPY". This places the correct URL ending in "jpg" on your clipboard. You can then go directly to your FM post and paste that URL into your post. Then the picture you have chosen will appear in the copy precisely where you have placed it.
