I have owned this lens for a couple of years, bought it after reading so many positives on this forum. This lens is SHARP! I use it on a full frame camera and have been blown away by the file quality of my shots. There is no substitute for macro on a full frame. It is indeed also a superb portrait lens!

Considering the main applications for this lens, none really. As many others have said, it is a little slower than L-lenses for focussing, but that's not the point of this lens.
