Pros:
Range & reach
Cons:
Construction, no IS
I had this lens as a loaner for about a week this summer. Coming from a series of Canon L-series lenses, I was a bit disappointed with the quality of it. But just a bit. Still I have to say - the amazing zoom range and focal lenght of this monster makes up for all the flaws it has!

Pros:
Small and light compared to the longer "supertele" lineup, extreamly sharp even with extenders
Cons:
None
Probably one of the best (Canon) lenses ever produced. Although I sold mine about 6 months ago for the 500 f4 because I just needed the longer reach and didn't have a budget to keep the two, I most certainly will buy one again someday.

Pros:
Build, weather proof, not too heavy
Cons:
None
My best lens so far. Excellent color rendition and sharpness with both the 1.4 and 2x extenders. Fast and accurate. Gets a little heavy when carrying it for longer distances, but a good backpack will help you out there. Upgraded from EF 300 2.8, a great lens too, and never looked back!
