Pros:
good range, IS is fine
Cons:
over priced, inconsistently soft focus,

I couldn't overly recommend this lens. The 4-5.6 is simply too slow.
Probably the worst point is the inconsistent focus caused (I think) by the amount of play in the lens.
May be getting a couple of cheaper primes (the 35mm and 50mm 1.8) and the sigma or tamron 17-50mm.
Its not all bad - can also be decent, sharp and the range is good.

Pros:
beautifully sharp, great colours, lots of fun, decent price
Cons:
focus hunts at distances beyond 1m - not a problem as I generally use manual

Absolutely the most fun, rewarding lens I have used. Brilliant results - sharp, richly coloured, opens a whole new world of subjects.
I takes some practice to get used to the short depth of field.
Highly recommended!
