Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM

Review Date: Jan 16, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $4,000.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Its probably the best lens to PERFECT.
let me know if anybody finds any

I have had over 25 seperate "L" lenses in the past 10 years, and I have never felt like this.....I AM IN
the OPTICS, speed, and overall balance of this piece of glass makes it very hard to put down. I have tried the 400 2.8L, and although it was a superb lens, I feel that the 300 is a lot more of a user friendly lens...especially in the weight category and the amount of KEEPERS. I tried something today that I never recomended doing in the past, I stacked a 1.4x and a 2x on the 300 IS, not on my 1DmkIIN, but on my TRACKED very well, infact, in good light it was just lovely to use. Image contrast dropped a bit , but the sharpness it produced suprised me. A cheap way of getting to 1344mm @ f8. This lens never ceases to suprise me. I use it very comfortably with the 1.4x, I cannot notice any degradation...and occasionly with the 2x...slight contrast drop...easily fixed in CS2.....and now for FUN...stacked.

Sigma 150mm f2.8 APO Macro DG EX HSM

Review Date: Nov 7, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $629.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Built like a TANK, and not too heavy either, f2.8 @ 150mm, tripod collar, hood included, great warranty
none so far

Top lens indeed.
Its as sharp as the Canon 100 with greater working distance. Handles extremely well with focussing ( for a macro that is)
The lens performs just as good as it looks. The only thing that would make this a better lens would be an Image stabilizer...but then again, not even Canon's macros have that.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM

Review Date: Oct 6, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: best zoom lens made by any, fast and built rock solid.

I have owned all three versions of Canon's 70-200, this is by far the best image quality and focus speed.

Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM

Review Date: Oct 4, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,100.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: small and light, super sharp, IS, very usuable lens.

I use this 9 out of ten times and I USE THE 300 F2.8 only once in ten times. Its lighter just as sharp...well my clients cannot tell the diferrence...and its handholdeable ALL day long.

Canon EOS 20D

Review Date: Oct 4, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,300.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: small, light, top notch images
flimsy CF card door cover

best value for your buck...images so close to the 1D mkII its almost impossible to distinguish between the two.
