Pros:

Cheap, Fast, and pretty.

Heavy, Akward on 1.6, Must be stopped down, rechipping, filter size.

This lense, while definitely worth the asking price, is not as good as I thought it would be.
First, I have to stop down to f4.0 to get acceptable sharpness. Second, it's one heavy sucker. Thirdly, the 82 mm filter size is horrendous: we'd be much better off with a 77mm thread.
Couple all this with re-chipping nightmares, and you may find it not worth your time. If you're on a tight budget, it might be one for you.

Great f.o.v., close minimum focus distance, decently fast.

Cheap paint peels off, annoying hood/lense cap problems, scratches easily.

I was pretty happy with this lense until recently. It focuses to rather short distances, has decent bokeh when wide open, and has a great FoV on all camera bodies (1.0, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6).
unfortunately, one year on my hood is broken, the lense surface is pretty scratched up (can't put a UV on it), and the paint is peeling off.
Overall, I'd probably still buy it... but you might want to consider the equivalent canon/nikon lenses. They aren't all that much more expensive.

I absolutely adore this lense: it makes the rest of my collection feel like junk. The little charmer is sharp, versatile, quiet, fast and fun.
Be careful... the 100 Macro 2.8 is like a gateway drug to L addiction. The best defense is to cut up your Credit/ATM cards.
