Pros:

Very sharp wide open. Focus speed is good, better when using the limiter. Not to heavy to hand hold. Has a decent macro range. Tripod collar included. Nice build quality.
Cons:
Nothing to complain about at this price point. Discontinued.

I found a Nikon version of this lens at a good price. I'm amazed and very pleased at the sharpness wide open. Focus is fairly quick on D50. The limiter speeds it up some. Not too heavy, has a good feel when hand holding. Macro is a plus. Can't go wrong with this one. If you see it for sale, grab it.

Pros:

Stunning sharpness across the board. Excellent build quality. Auto focus is fast and never misses. My best lens purchase to date.
Cons:
82mm filter size.
I replaced a 70-200 vr1 and 80-400 with this lens. I have not missed either of those lenses at all. I now have as good or better image quality and performance, a lighter back pack and a fatter wallet.

Pros:
Image quality and build quality far surpass the price point of this lens. Just get one if you are considering this lens. You will not be dissapointed.
Cons:
None given that this is considered a "consumer level" lens.
Perfect lens for outdoor shooting. Easy to carry so it will always be with you. VR works very well when handholding at 300. Easily one of Nikon's best values.

Pros:
Focal range makes this a perfect all occasion lens. Af-s focusing is fast. VR works great. Compact size.
Cons:
None really, but if I nitpick then I would say the slight lens creep between 50mm and 135mm when the lens is held straight up or down.
I love everything about this lens. At f8 the image quality is just fantastic. I've used this lens to shoot a wedding with a D90 and an sb-600 and the indoor church photos were beautiful. Having the flexibility to zoom from wide to telephoto in an instant is what this lens is all about. Af-s and VR are icing on the cake. Indoor, outdoor, landscape, portraits, events, this lens handles it all with ease.
