I shoot with this as my primary portrait lens and i love it. I have been tempted to swap it out for the 1.2 L but A: i don't want to put that brick in my bag, and b: if i beat this one up, I can just go pick up another one to replace it.

Pros:

sharp, light, cheap, good build

Cons:

only thing i can think of is f4, but it honestly hasn't been an issue as i can drag the shutter a lot @ 17mm

Such a great lens. I purchased it before there was a 16MKII but I have found this lens to be significantly sharper than the old 16-35 Tons of photos on my blog http://ericjphotography.com/blog I would be lost if it weren't in my bag. I should mention that i use it on a 5D and really would only suggest it on FF

Pros:

Fast AF, FT Manual Focus, Great Color, Great Contrast, great sharpness up to f8, oh and it has 10mm
|
Cons:
|
performs poorly stopped down, front element moves when zooming, $$$ for a non"L", f3.5-4.5 ( I would have prefered a constant f4) a bit inconsistant with sharpnes

Well I have been trying to decide on this one for a WHILE!!! This lens has brought back the excitement of W/A photography to me, (lost with the 1.6 crop) here is one shot that makes me remember why I missed WA http://ericcotter.com/blog/index.php?showimage=114
All thought this lens is REAL sharp when it is on, there are sometimes when it should be sharp and it isn’t (i.e. f8 @ 1/400) but it is worth the money. With the problem of dust on the sensor these days, I am surprised that Canon is still making $800 lenses with elements that suck in air/dust when zooming
