I was very impressed with IQ.
I used it on a recent trip as a general purpose, zoo and some birding and loved it!
I used it in conjunction with my 500 is and it was a perfect set up for me...
Ps
I'm tempted to try the 28-300 for wide angle purposes ...I do love my 16-35 though...
Non the less, this is a great lens...I would surely recommend it!

I'm just gotten into macro and I love this lens!!!!!!!!
- sharp
- price is fair
- weight ( not bad ) I carry 500 around all day...
- very low post production work
Get it you'll love it!
Tempted to try sigma, changed my mind. Glad I did!
It's one of my fav. Lens!
