Sigma 15-30mm f3.5-4.5 EX Aspherical DG DF

Review Date: Sep 17, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $250.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Range, Build, "wow factor" for passers by.
LOUD Focus. Vingetting even on a Crop body if you use a polarizer.

This lens is perfect as a wide angle on a crop body like the Rebel. It gives you decent wide angle reach, with reasonable sharpness for the price, and excellent build.

This is my new walkaround lens, and either this of the 50mm f/1.4 fits for 90% of the situations I'm in. It's kind asad too, I'm kinda less inclined to use my nice telephoto now.

Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM

Review Date: Sep 1, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $175.00 | Rating: 8

Pros: Excellent lens for the money, relatively sharp, non-rotating front element, USM, Buttery smooth bokeh.
Slow lens, non IS

If your wallet can't handle an L telephoto, this is definately the way to go. As long as you're outdoors, this lens is plenty fast, although forget about using it indoors. If you're on a budget, and want to take stellar shots of people, birds, animals, etc... (Especially if you use a crop body, as I do), this lens is perfect.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM

Review Date: Sep 1, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $295.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: sharp, usm, fast

Pretty everyhting to be said about this lens has been said already. I'll just add that if you're on a relative budget, you owe it to yourself to have this baby in your bag. It's on my camera most of the time, and on a crop body, this is an amazing portrait lens.
