Nikon 35-70mm f/2.8D AF

1963NAS_180
Review Date: Jun 15, 2008 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $170.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Outstanding sharpness, great colours and nice bokeh.
Cons:
F2.8 looks bit soft, but F4 and above is razor sharp. Flare is hard to beat sometimes.

Focal lenght is bit narrow for social shots.

Nikon 70-210mm f/4-5.6D AF

70-210
Review Date: Jun 15, 2008 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $100.00 | Rating: 8

Pros: Very usable wide open between 70-150mm . Looks soft at 210mm. Stepping down to F8 gives razor sharp photos at all focal lenghts. Build quality is very good. Push-and-pull is not for me, but still OK.
Cons:
@210mm images look soft at wide open, F8 helps a lot.

My lens is no D-model, but only difference is focus speed, non-D is slower.

Sunny day and aperture F8 gives a wonderful shots. Build quality is very high comparing to nowadays lenses.

Sigma 18-50mm F3.5-5.6 DC

18-50
Review Date: Jun 11, 2008 Recommend? no | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 4

Pros: F8 aperture produces sharp images. Good extra weight for fishnet ;)
Cons:
Wide open at 18 mm focal lenght looks really terribble! CA is major problem. Colors looks pretty dull, like a half color information is muted someway.

This is common kit lens at Finnish DSLR-kits. And resale value is ten to twenty euros.

Usable at aperture F8, but that is too dark for dark seasons, here in Finland, at December: sunrise 9.45 AM, sunset 3.00 PM. Usually cloudy weather and usually no snow at December Wink yes, northern longitude is between 59-70 degrees, polar night starts from 66 degrees.

Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 EX DG Lens

24-60mm
Review Date: Jun 11, 2008 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $200.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Very sharp from F4 at all focal lengts. Aperture F2.8 is usable, but lacking of contrast. Accurate, vivid colors, nice bokeh. My main lens for portrait snaps. Really cost-effective! And no vignetting&bad distortion.
Cons:
Bit sensitive for flare, lacking of contrast at F2.8

I bought this from second-hand-market. I was impressed about sharpness and color vividy. My main lens for partys, weddings etc.

This is full frame lens, so wide angle is not so wide, but lack of vignetting and distortion Wink

Really cheap F2,8 zoom lens and good one. At German market, lowest price is 224 euros (new), and I paid 200 euros, half year old from second-hand-market.
