Review Date: Aug 8, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $340.00 | Rating: 7

Pros: cheap with nice photo quality.
Cons:
poor build quality

Frankly to say, although i upgrade it to cannon 17-40/4.0L, I can not see the difference in photo quality, the only problem is that this lens is a littler slower to focus when the light is weak.

Pros: sharp, good colors and bokeh.
Cons:
focal plane shifting

I have to agree that the outdoor pps are sharp and clear using f8, and the indoor pps of the focal plane is sharp enough,

while the problem is that the focal plane is always shifting to the body direction using larger aperture
You can found the bad pp at http://spaces.msn.com/ikeshuwan/photos/

i do not know it is the problem of my 350D/kiss N or the problem of this lens, what should i do.

Pros: useful walk-around lens great pictures, great sharpness and contrast, and great AF. amazingly low flare
Cons:
None to this price.

Very useful walk-around lens for a 1.6x crop camera, I use this lends and EF-70-200/2.8L on my 350D to walk around Japan, I really enjoy the trips with it, especially the low weight compared with 70-200,hehe.

Great pictures, great sharpness and contrast, and great AF.
Flare is amazingly low for such a wide glass.
One only shortcoming is the distortion on the wide end, It's not a f/2.8, but I would not pay the extra money for one f-stop.

Pros: sharp fast what do we need else?
Cons:
weight? color? I do not complain.

It is my strongest hand in catching children on streets, it can take the child face out from crowd easily and sharply.
It works for children, of course works well for animal either.
besides it has good perfermance for lanscape, the special compressive feeling, I like.

Most of my PPs in this page are made from this lens.
