Sigma 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC HSM APO

Review Date: Aug 18, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $579.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: tack sharp, very good AF, great focal range
perhaps to sharp for portraits but that is a good problem to have

I ordered this lens the day it came out and I have been very happy with it.

It has become my walkaround lens for my 30D. I find the 50-150mm focal length to be fantastic

Sigma 50mm f2.8 EX Macro 1:1 Lens

Review Date: Apr 2, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $300.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Very sharp, Built in Macro very handy, built like a tank
no HSM makes AF noisey, can't use the lens cap with the hood on

Over all this is a great lens. On my 30D this works like an 85mm which was one of my favorite primes on 35mm film. It is built like a tank and works very well.

I really wish that Sigma made this with HSM but that is a minor issue. While you can hear the AF motor it is not all that loud.

The biggest con is that you can not use the regular lenscap if you have the hood on. I figured out a great workaround however. The front of the included metal hood is treaded, so I just got a screw on lens cap and it works great.
