on my Nikon D200 the lens focus quickly and quietly for and for a none Silent Wave, hard to discern the differences compared to a SW lens.

Pros: size and weight, features, image quality, solid sealed built, built in flash, simple to use i.e well designed buttons for critical features.
Cons:
none for me, for high ISO users a bit noisy.

I just love this camera! for the first time ever for me: when I exhibit large prints i.e 10x14 I am often asked if I took the image in medium format!

Review Date: May 24, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $290.00 | Rating: 7

Pros: Light, good range, decent built, quick and silent focus, good price.
Cons:
soft on wider end

I bought this lens to go on my D100 for a light weight DSLR and lens for hiking and backpacking. I would not buy this lens if it were not for these requirements.

Review Date: May 19, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $510.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: sharpness, size and weight, VR
Cons:
none

Have read several bad reviews about the lens being soft. Bought it anyway "needing a walking around lens." It is perfect for this purpose, at f8 or f11 it is tack sharp, do not know what the fuss is about re softness.
