Pros:
|
One of fastest AFing lenses, AF in pitch dark scenarios, tiny, light. Great IQ
|
Cons:
|
f2 is marketable but stop down to f2.5 if you only can, then it beats any zoom lens wide open. AF ring gets in a way often (price to pay for small lens)

this lens is a must for both FX and DX users. 100Eur more expensive then G and so much better. Sure would be better f1.4 but you are not going to lose any moneys buying now what is available and get f1.4 later. Nikkors resell good.

Pros:

better than anything on market, almost perfect
|
Cons:
|
wish it to be f2

i got the lens because i wanted replacement for my walkaround 55 micro i used in film days. Nikon really made something almost perfect here. The lens is awesome and gives 100% results at every setting. Focal lenght is awesome for walkaround and macro feature makes it versatile - you can shoot whatever you want at the time.
I wish it to be f2. I use af-s 50 1.4 as walkaround lens now and often finding limits where it can focus. If that lens would focus to at least 1:2 or this lens would be f2 or faster, i would scream happy.

Pros:
|
sharp wide open, very little CA, nice bokeh.
|
Cons:
|
flares lot but they are nice - if you learn them, you can exploit them, slow AF, hunts in low light.

pic is of AF-S 60micro btw.
it is good replacement of old 50er but i was hoping for a bit more. Especially for two reasons:
1) 50 1.8 is so good so they could stretch it a bit even at bigger expense (nano coat, faster af?).
2) FX is well established and therefor 50mm makes sense again.
I recommend it to everybody who dont have any 1.4 or uses FX. If you have old 1.4 50mm, dont bother.
