Pros:

Best camera I've ever used. It's a real pleasure to use. The 10mp's make it so much nicer to frame a little loosely and crop to the appropriate aspect ratios for prints.

It's not perfect, but I have no real gripes of substance. I do wish that they'd placed the 10pin remote connection in a better spot, but it works okay as is, I guess.

This camera is a lot of bang for the money. I've never used a pro class camera like the d2h or d2x, so I can only rate the camera based on my experiences with less expensive cameras. Once I learned the basic operations of the camera, my keeper rate has been consistently higher than I ever got from my previous cameras. That is a very pleasant experience.

can't add anything to what's already posted. I have a couple other macro lenses, including the tamron 90Di. The AF issues that others speak of, seem to be normal for 1:1 shots. It's easier to MF on all of my macro lenses. AF works fast and sure for me, on stuff that's not macro distances. Great lens, IMO.

minor light falloff in corners from 18-24mm at apertures below about f/4 or so

I've seen people unhappy with the light falloff, but for a 2.8 lens, I can't really imagine having an issue with it. Landscapes aren't usually done at f/2.8. :-) There are few circumstances that I can imagine where this would be an issue if shooting something other than test shots. This is definitely a "best bang for the buck" lens, IMO.

AF-S would almost make the lens perfect.

The lens has a learning curve that you need to complete before you can maximize its potential. It's sharp with good color and contrast, lightweight and a relatively small size. It's a terrific lens to take when you're heading out to shoot anything that strikes your fancy. Of course, it can't compete with the specialty lenses that are needed for special jobs, but they can't compete with it as an all around lens. It's a 5x zoom with VR that works as well as you're capable of making it work. Nuff said. :-)
