Sigma 15mm f2.8 EX Diagonal Fisheye

15mm_Lg_1_
Review Date: May 13, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $399.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Good solid build, very good color and contrast, extremely sharp for an ultra wide of this type, quite fast auto focus performance.
Cons:
slightly soft on left and right hand sides of frame wide open, can't take front filters, so you need to be careful of the front element, especially shooting close to subjects, as its easy to loose perspective of how close you are to objects.

I had tried the Canon EF15 Fisheye prior to this purchase, and both the Canon and Sigma produced similar results, both show slight Chromatic Abberations on L/H & R/H sides of frame, but no worse than the highly respected sigma 15-30, or the Canon 16-35L.

I use it on a 10D which doesn't quite yield a full fisheye effect, but does give you an exceptionally wide view, that can be perspectively corrected with software tools to simulate a rectilinear wide lens.

Overall excellent performance at a much lower price than the Canon. This is the first and only Sigma lens I have owned, so I was sceptical, but after getting it very pleased with the quality.
