Nikon 24mm f/2.8D AF Nikkor

Review Date: May 25, 2009 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Sharp, light, fast
bit pricey, prone to ghosting and flares

For me, it's perfect for street photography. It's very very sharp (I sometimes read reviews that say the opposite, maybe I've just got a very good sample?) and the best of all is that people aren't easily overwhelmed by such a tiny lens. It handles well but be careful to use a good sunhood because it's prone to flares and ghosting easily.

Pros: Very sharp, has a nice contrast too, weathersealed
None I can think of

Just a fabulous lens. Very sharp from 70-200mm and sharp to 300mm. What amazes me is the incredible images it produces, it's just like a 70-200 but without the f2.8 and without the HUGE pricetag.

I use it mostly for potrait work and in landscape photography while traveling.

I recommend this much over-looked lens very much.

Nikon 18-70 f/3.5-4.5G AFS DX

Pros: Very good price/quality, nice reach, great sharpness and contrast.
Construction quality could be better, but that would probably result in a higher price.

This is actually one of my last bought lenses. I'm very glad I bought it though since I didn't have a standard zoom yet! I paid a very reasonable price and the quality of the pictures this lens produces astounds me time and again. It's an ideal lens to take with you on holidays, the reach is very versatile. It didn't leave my D50 anyway.
