Pros:	Construction is rigid and well finished, compact and not heavy.
Cons:	The most annoying issue with this lens is the metal hood that comes standard. The tolerances are so tight that is difficult to replace it unless one takes great care; in the process I scratched the metal finish of the lens. I replaced the original metal hood with a Lenscoat Hoodie and solved the problem

This lens is a compromise and at apertures below f 8 the performance is not to par across the zoom range when considering sharpness and vignetting. I use this lens mostly for landscape and interior photographing always using a tripod with a 5DIII and manual focusing. Under these circumstances the lens renders excellent images at f 11- f 16. I sold my 16-35 mm Canon IS MKII mostly because of the 12 mm coverage of the Sigma lens. When I compared the both lenses at 16 or 24 mm, I could not tell a difference at 11 f and above. The autofocus which I seldom use with these lenses is superior in the Canon lens. The built-in hood is not detachable and the use of filters is not possible.
