Pros: A great camera overall for beginners all the way to advanced photographers.
Cons:
None so far.

I think this is a great camera, sure it's price tag may be a bit high for beginners or people who just do photography as a hobby, but I don't think that this will be a problem for for any pro out there or any amateur with a little extra change in their pocket who are looking for a camera that may last them for years and won't be necessary to change if they go pro. I decided to test mine while taking a few promotial photos for my favorite house painters in Gainesville, FL and so far every picture I took has been perfect!

Pros: I really like the design of the camera, though there are a few things I wish were a bit different.
Cons:
I've never been a fan of the multi-controller design, though. It looks sensible and straightforward, but it's too flush with the control dial and now that it's smaller it's even harder to precisely manipulate without stopping and concentrating.

There's so much to like about the eagerly awaited replacement for the Canon EOS 60D, the 70D. It comes with a completely overhauled, Live View/video-optimized autofocus system that doesn't require special lenses; a more streamlined body design with an articulated touch screen; and Wi-Fi support. And with only a couple of exceptions, I like the 70D and enjoy shooting with it; it's fast and fluid. However, pixel peepers will likely be disappointed with the still photo quality, which really should be better for the money. Wire mesh panel mole removal kansas city Tempest Game Server Hosting

Pros: High quality compared to compact cameras and more reliable.
Cons:
None so far.

The main LCD screen offers a fantastic resolution with 1,040K dots, so you may find yourself using it more often than you thought. It allows you to judge the critical sharpness of your photos using the LCD screen, which has been a long-standing issue on Canon's entry- and mid-range DSLRs. The screen also has an aspect ratio of 3:2 - i.e. identical to that of the sensor - so that the photos fill the screen completely, with no black stripes along the top and bottom. garage additions Cincinnati

Pros: It's generally recommended for anyone shooting video professionally with a Canon DSLR to turn the sharpness all the way down. The 6D's moire and aliasing issues are about as bad, if not worse, than the 5D Mk. II. The 5D Mk. III, however, has virtually no aliasing whatsoever.
Cons:
tbh, I think the 70D release was expected. It really is the camera which encompasses all the features I wanted in a camera (for photo and film) when I was looking 3 years ago. I am glad it exists now although, it is a little expensive for my scope.

According to first hand video quality reviews it still suffers from Moire and Aliasing in most detailed shots and this has not improved as it did on the 5D MkIII. The DR seems to be pretty bad as most shots look harsh and blown out. Better ISO performance is good but dynamic range has not improved much. IŽll wait for a better replacement for my 7D, the 70D just isnŽt there . A new AF system not much else Hope the new 7D doesnŽt share the same sensor but knowing canon it probably will.

Pros: Very sharp after f2.0 Nice bokeh Nice build even though it's an old lens Very fast AF.
Cons:
Lots of aberrations at 1.4, barrel distortion. No water-sealed.

Excellent lens. Such a reliable workhorse. I can always count on this lens to have perfect autofocus and to be sharp. It's a little soft (and has CA) in the corners until between f2 and f2.8. By f2.8 it's very sharp across the frame of videography Austin. But that all seems typical for such a fast WA lens. Can't complain too much there.

Pros: The sensor in progress from EOS 7D. Easy to use. Not the best, but good everywhere.
Cons:
Some switches disposal, too much like EOX xxx series.

Used one since 2015 with some satisfaction but one day I decided it was time to upgrade.
Before the 70D, I had a 7D since 2009 and found the sensor to be much more better on 70D but the metering accuracy was a lot better with the old 7D.
I wanted a second camera in order to get one with wide angle lens and the other fitted with tele zoom. I was faced a dilemma: The 70D for image quality or 7D for accuracy and build quality ?
First, I bought a 6D + 24-70mm F4. Wooaah ! First impressed by image quality, especially in low light. It is not a legend. And so easy to control !
Then, holding it during hours and hours, I began to found the lens so heavy. Then the AF was not so ... How to say, the 7D was miles ahead.
At the end, changed the the 6D, it was new, for a 7D2. It was top but I quickly realised that I was permanently changing the settings to get the top quality photos. And they were, but the pleasure gone.
So, I went back to my usual store, they know me now, and looked to Nikon 7500D. Certainelly a great competitor. But how to say, the ergonomy is miles from simplicity. And no tip-top quality lens to fit on at an acceptable price.
It remembered me when I was looking for my first DSLR : Big deal between Canon EOS 30D and Nikon D200. such a brain storming but the facility to use primed and I get the 30D, and never regret.
At the end (you're still here ?), I bought a second 70D and now I am happy. I can do quite everything with at no brain storming !
The end.

Pros: Good high iso performance, great movies, excellent features for the price with great picture quality
Cons:
for the money none!

After owning 10D 20D 30D 1DMKII, 1DMKIIs, and now the 70D, I have never went down in quality and features, although it doesn't offer the speed and functioning of the 1D professional cameras, it does many things better. It is an absolute great SLR for HD Movies w/ the right lenses, I am very pleased with quality of images and the video this SLR produces, and am for the quality at this price point I am amazed.

As for the build the speed and the features, knowing what I was buying before hand, I got everything I was expecting and then some.

Pros: Build quality, folding LCD, decent image quality without really being spectacular. Wide range of features for the price but fewer than even the old 7D
Cons:
Awkward getting flip-screen out. Cannot setup to have direct access to AF point AND then use Set button to zero AF, you can only do this WITHOUT direct access to AF points which is really silly. Sensor only a fraction better than ubiquitous 18 meg version. More of a computer than a camera. LCD sticks out proud and presses against my nose.

The 70D is clearly a very competent camera, that must be right because everyone else says so. I have found it is indeed a competent camera but it has left me rather cold, especially as I am upgrading from earlier crop Canons

It's quite well designed, although there is no easy and obvious place to put your finger in to get the screen out and I hate the position of the stop-down button, that really couldn't be any worse, sad as it's customisable but almost unusable. The flip-out LCD stands prouder from the back than previous models and presses against my nose more than a non-tilt camera.

Using single point AF (as I do) you have no option to use the surrounding points to help as you do on the 5D3 and 7D, which is a shame - in fact the AF options are much more limited than on some other models. You also lose the forward-back part of the built-in level. it only gives side to side levelling.

I prefer direct access to the AF points and you can't just press the Set button to go back to the centre AF point if you have this enabled. I cannot imagine why they do not allow this as the Set button isn't doing anything else at this time and is supposedly customisable too, just not with anything useful.

The high ISO image quality in RAW is about a stop better than the much-used 18 meg sensors but the low ISO IQ is very much the same, perhaps very slightly less noisy.

Considering this is several years on in development from my 7D and 550D I'm a little underwhelmed, even though it's hard to say quite why, the camera just seems a bit 'sterile' a bit 'soul-less' but then it's basically a computer. It certainly doesn't feel much like an upgrade in any meaningful way.

At time of writing, which is late December 2015, if I were starting out I would probably buy a Nikon, they are making much better cameras in almost every way right now.

Pros: I'm simply amazed. I hated my 85 1.8 lens just because I couldn't seem to get sharp images opened wide.... until I used this camera. The cross-type focus sensors actually work!!!! The images come out sharp, with colors that don't make me cringe (doesn't look "digital"). I'm buying another one.
Cons:
None.

When you consider that I bought an $8000 dollar camera in 2005, and now a $1000 camera does such a better job in 2015, we've come a long, long, long way with digital cameras!!!! I'm just awed and amazed at how I can focus in dark venues or churches, and I won't have to "worry" about being told I can't use flash even in the darkest church I've ever worked in! I have to get another one!

Pros: Touch screen controls, Fast, accurate 19 point focus system. Live View video focus, Good image quality, Battery comparability with 5D2, Articulated hi res screen, Visual audio monitoring, Locking control knob, good value.
Cons:
Crop sensor, no headphone output. RAW conversion only works with latest version of LR.

I don't consider myself a big techie or pixel peeper, but I know a good camera when I see one.

The Canon 70d debuted a few months ago to much fanfare - especially regarding it's focusing system. I bought into the hype and pre-ordered mine from B+H. Ten days later it arrived - coming the day before I was off to shoot a music festival in the desert. Over the next 4 days I used it to take about 2,500 photos as well as several hours of video. Usage so far is just under 10,000 actuations and 6 hours of video.

The 70d follows in the tradition of the 40D-50D-60D line in terms of layout, style and build. However, it has a few great features that set it apart:

1) Most importantly. an advanced live view focusing system that is fast and accurate. It uses a dual phase CMOS auto-focus design that splits the pixels and performs phase analysis of the scene on the fly. I have a couple of other Canon bodies that shoot video but none of them focus as seamlessly as this one in real time. When I set the camera on a monopod, turned the screen downward and held it over my head to video live dancing, it worked great.
2) A 19 point cross hatch focus system that is fast and accurate - even when shooting sports. When I shot polo recently, it focused well - though not with the finesse and intuitive perfection of my 1ds Mark ii. Under normal shooting conditions, the focus points lock in and pop up on the screen - fast!
3) The new Canon Digic 5+ processor seems to work fine. Exposures in "P for Professional" are accurate under uncomplicated circumstances.
4) It has built in Wi-fi though I haven't tried it yet. Also HDMI and A/V out.
5) I love the touch screen for adjusting settings. It is fast and intuitive. The screen is fully articulated and has a very high quality image for review.
6) Image burst doesn't seem up to claimed specs but it's fast enough for me in most circumstances.
7) This camera uses a new RAW format that cannot be converted using older versions of Lightroom. For this reason I updated to LR 5.2
8) It uses the same batteries as my 5D mark 2 - which is handy. As with most newer cameras, battery life is very good. It takes SD cards which are almost free these days.
9) The body is said to be "weather proofed" but I wouldn't use it in a rainstorm or expect it to survive a tumble onto concrete. It seems pretty rugged given it's position in the Canon line.
10) I occasionally use the on-board flash and find it quick and easy to hold back it's power when I just want a little fill pop. It also has HDR settings.
11) Unfortunately, there is no headphone jack, - though there is an external mic input. In auto mode, it recorded live music with better quality than expected.
12) I like the locking mode control knob. I go crazy when the mode control knob moves "by itself" on the 5D 2.
13) The IQ isn't as good as the on the 5D Mark 2 but that is to be expected as it is an APS-C crop camera.

Overall, I like this camera very much and if I decide to go traveling may get a second one to make a pair for street shooting. This isn't Canon's flagship camera but for the money it is an excellent value - especially if you shoot video.

Note: This a full featured camera and I have gotten benefit from picking up a copy of the "Canon EOS 70D Digital Field Guide," by Charlotte K. Lowery. It's a nice looking and informative book.
