This was my first lens on my first Canon 70D. I was very happy with the way the lens focused, held focus and worked generally. Colours and contrast have always turned out very well.
It is virtually silent for video. Although I would always recommend an external recorder for serious work, when you want a quick little movie on the fly, this is an excellent lens.
Very sharp wide open throughout the zoom and aperture ranges. I don't pixel-peep so the perceived sharpness was everything I could reasonably expect.
Low light performance is pretty good given the aperture range, but I've found that the high ISO performance of the 70D is good enough to get pretty much any reasonable shot.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this lens, as I am with the other seven STM lenses I have collected.

Mine is a Sharp Copy, Zoom Range, Price, Size.
Cons:
Its STM vs.USM Nano but a very minor thing, Getting a sharp copy is like a lottery.
There are sharp Copies After All
I have tried this lens in STM & USM NANO both from the Canon Refurbished store and the IQ didn't come close to this STM copy I purchased used and were both returned.
In shooting the same test shots with this one I didn't expect much difference in the results. My thoughts were Canon's 18-135 series lenses were over priced and $150.00 was about right for a lens that 100% crops could not be used.

Pros:

Very useful range for a walk around lens. Image quality much better than the price indicates. Image quality approaches "L" level and I feel quite comfortable using it instead of my "L" lenses.
Cons:
F stop range limited in low light, but with today's cameras high ISO is not the problem it used to be.
On a crop camera this makes a great walk around lens. Image quality very, very good.

18-135IS-STM is the next generation of this lens. It costs about $550 and is an amazingly fast and sharp lens. It has an equivalence of 24mm to 200mm. It is remarkably better than the first generation, which is not STM. This is a great all around lens and is rarely off my 7D. Although it is a not an "L" lens, and is mostly plastic, it performs like an L lens - except for the following issues which are of minor concern.
Cons:
The manual focus does not work at all.
When it "sleeps" it takes a second or so to wake up and focus sharply again.
For the price of this lens, I would highly recommend it to anyone with a crop sensor camera.

Pros:

Good start lens, and spans an area you want to be happy for the beginner
Cons:
It is not the sharpest lens, and then See, the glass set up in a plastic housing, so it feels a little cheap, as it is after all
To beginner, are this lens good to have on your camera because it has a relatively large zoom
