Specifications:
The 40mm F1.4 DG HSM Art is Sigmas first lens developed originally to live up to the sought-after angle of view and performance standard for a benchmark cine lens. This lens effectively arranges three FLD (F Low Dispersion) glass elements and three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements to correct axial chromatic aberration and magnification chromatic aberration. Designed for exceptional sharpness at maximum aperture, this lens excels at available light photography. With less than 1% distortion and near non-existent sagittal coma flare, this lens demonstrates consistent optical results featuring both 8K-compatible resolution and a beautiful bokeh.

It is available for Sigma, Nikon, Canon and Sony E mount camera systems.

Pros: Sharp, sharp, sharp The optical performance can't be beat
Cons:
On the heavy side

This 40mm Sigma lens (in my case, for Canon) retails for $799, I got mine used for about $100 less. Having owned and adored the Sigma 35mm Art lens, I decided to mix it up a little and instead buy the 40mm. I can't really comment on how much or how little that change in distance and angle affects the photos themselves, but I can say the lens produces breathtaking photos, sharper and with greater contrast than even the 35mm.

It is however, built like a tank. Good for some reasons, not so good for others, notably, it's a heavy lens. As an example, the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art lens for Canon weighs in at 815g, or about 1 lb 13 oz.

The 40mm weighs 1200g, or 2 lb 10 oz ... almost a full pound heavier.
