I would go back to the dealer and show him the math, then re-negotiate.

If it were me, I\'d rather have the 1D3 than those other two combined, but I\'m not sure I\'d want to throw away $350 to do it.

Not to be rude or anything.
I believe your thinking from a consumer level, not a business level.

As a business, the dealer would want to make some form of profit as such that $350 is the profit for the trade. He needs to be able to sell not just 1 camera as the initial objective was, but now 2.

No one starts a business to make 0 or negative profit. Just my thoughts on business. I personally think its a great deal if your happy with the condition of the 1D III and the trade.

Um... correct me if I\'m wrong, but the OP *is* a consumer, or more specifically *the* consumer in this senario...

Of course the OP is consumer, but we have to take into consideration the business dealer in this scenario. If you give him no profit then there won\'t be a trade at all. In other words advise on flat trade based on used market prices with no addition is useless in this scenario.

You might as well sell both your cameras first then go buy the 1D III. The dealer is just wasting their time doing a flat trade with no profit. This isn\'t a simple matter of a private transaction between a person and a person, where profit has no concern. It\'s between a person and a business, where profit does concern.

It\'s like going into a store and asking them to match ebay prices. They won\'t match it. Bricks and mortar theory.

We can argue how much is fair profit in this regards. However having no profit for the business is pretty much a waste of time.
