Well, I have \"non-Japanese\" hands, in fact my hands that would be considered \"large\" by Western standards, and I don\'t have a problem with the 5D\'s grip or the shutter release at all. Your all-inclusive exaggeration is just not accurate or reasonable. I certainly have my issues with the 5D, but the grip and shutter release is not in any way one of them.
