Fredmiranda forums are sure bad for my wallet
The other day I came across this thread and on an impulse buy, decided to purchase the Mountaineer Series 2 kit originally mentioned in the thread. I already have a hefty RRS and some smaller tripods but this is my first Gitzo. I received it last night, and as expected, it seems pretty well built, and I think it can still handle my A1+600mm/4. For that, I'll be putting my gimbal head on it though. But I also see myself occasionally using the 3-way head.

Anyway, FYI, as part of the B&H Mega Deals which started today, the price of this kit has further come down to $699. It may well be because Gitzo will be releasing a replacement soon but still at $699 for such a tripod with two solid heads, it is still a real steal, IMHO. Given that I had just received it last night, B&H thankfully agreed to price adjust for me .

Am I ever glad that I read your post I payed $849. for mine just last week, and thanks to your post and your price-adjustment, I gave B&H customer service a call, and they've agreed to do the price adjustment. Thank you very much. For me (Canadian) that refund translates to a $215. CDN savings,

Here in Quebec, that 2-series Mountaineer kit costs roughly $3,000. after taxes (15% GST and Provincial taxes) The GH-3382 QD head and tripod go for $1,729 CDN and the 3-way head is $849.CDN.

I hope you'll enjoy your Mountaineer. Cheers.
