Re: Is the Sony a7R IV the best value full-frame camera on the market?

I recently traded my A7R4 for the A7CR. My motivations were purely to get the reduced size, which suits me better for my purposes. Otherwise, I have always thought the 7R4 is a wonderful camera which has never let me down. I looked at the A7R5 when it came out but decided the benefits were incremental and did not affect me -- again, for my use cases. Your various bullet points probe these incremental benefits and others can answer whether they have found them important. I did not.

All these cameras have the same sensor, although there are some claims it has been 'tweaked' in the latest model. It is a terrific sensor BTW and images respond really well to post-processing. I don't worry about file sizes but do use LR's DNG lossless compression anyway, which reduces the file sizes by 20-30%. I have always used that function so wanted to stay consistent when I switched to Sony.

I don't know anything about the Z8 since I am already committed to the Sony universe. If you are not committed (you don't say), you might need to look at Nikon, Canon and other competitors. I do agree that the current new and used prices for the A7R4 make it a very attractive proposition on a price per feature basis. Maybe the best value on the market for anyone moving into Sony.
