There is a quite room for improvement in mentioned Nikon Z f/1.8 primes, compared to direct competition from Sony E-mount

Nikkor f/1.8 primes are bigger, heavier and more ugly looking (imho) compared to competition:

Plus on top of that, Sony E-mount lens selection has Carl Zeiss f/1.8 primes, or f/2.5 Sony primes, as well as cheap as hell, compatc and light Samyang f/1.8 primes with very decent IQ.
f/1.8 primes are not strongest point in Nikon Z mount imho.
Its Nikon Z standard zooms - especially Nikkor 24-70/4 kit lens, superb Nikkor 24-120/4 S, and telephoto offerings what makes Z mount very interesting.
What am I missing here? The Nikon 35 and 50 outperformed your comparison lenses in almost all of lenstips' tested attributes. The delta expands greatly when comparing Sony's 35mm and 50mm 1.8 lenses.
You are kidding, right?
Interestingly I chose a leica M11 with a full set of leica lenses for MF and every day carry. I chose Sony A1 and a full set of Zooms and primes for when I want AF.
You chose a Leica system for the same reasons I did, and it seems the Nikon system for similar reasons as me.
We have very similar camera closets except the Sony/Nikon labels on the equipment. We could likely shoot side by side pretty much any subject, in any conditions, with neither of us feeling like we are missing something. I bet we are getting equivalent IQ, capabilities, and enjoyment out of our choices. That is what is important in the end.
Sorry to say it 1bwana, but I don't understand what You mean.
Currently I'm Fuji X user, and I have never own or even hold in my hands any Leica gear
I was quote Steve Spenser's post not yours. I don't know why it showed yours.
