Re: Really dislike the size of these lenses | |
There is one thing I don't understand about threads like this that inspire me to believe that people just want to complain about something every once in a while.
If a person decides to buy a Z-Mount camera today, they already know what the Nikon lens line-up looks like. If they bought into the Z-mount system in 2018, they knew what it would look like, as Nikon clearly laid out its lens plans. While some of the lenses changed at the margins, they pretty much delivered on what they said they would make,
In 2018 Sony's line-up was well established as was the u4/3 gear. If lens size is/was your priority above all else, then you should do your homework and buy into a system where the company made small lenses. Nikon made it very clear that they would use that extra wide lens mount to make the best optically corrected lenses they could. To make lenses that have edge to edge sharpness, low vignetting, and reduced spherical distortions (barrel a pincushion) size increases.
With the latter stated, one could easily construct a relatively small Nikon kit with the Zf/Zfc, 26mm f2.8, 28mm f/2.8, 40 f/2, 55 micro, and 85 f/1.8. If you want the feel of old glass like the one pictures in the original post then Voigtlander has a number of native Z-mount lenses that fit the bill.
cheers,
