Used a Vello and a third party battery on my D850. The grip was fine, but towards the end of its lifecycle, Nikon didn’t allow 9 fps with 3rd party batteries (that’s my memory at least). In any event, I lost the 9 fps, which was very annoying.
I guess what I’m saying is don’t be too surprised if Nikon pulls the rug out from underneath you when using 3rd party accessories, although I certainly understand not wanting to pay the extravagant OEM prices.
