I posted this in the other thread regarding the Canon Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals:

Doesn’t get mentioned enough. But Canon USA is one of the retailers available through Rakuten.

It’s so simple to use and the savings on Canon gear can add up. My daughter used me as a referral last year so we both got an extra $30 cash back to our accounts on our next purchases. The process is after you sign up which only takes a few minutes you simply access the retailers website through the Rakuten link on their website or app. That’s it. You then get additional cash back in the form of a check from Rakuten.

Normally Canon purchases only get a 2% rebate but during the holidays it often goes up to 10% and right now it’s a generous 15% rebate. So if you buy that $1299 5DIV or RF24-70 by first clicking on Rakuten you would pay the $1299 plus tax but in a few months you would get a check in the mail for 15% or close to $200 back

Same 15% deal last year last year I picked up a refurb RF70-200 f4 and RF24-105 f4 for my wife who had just switched to mirrorless and with the price being too good to pass up added a second RF70-200 for myself as well as 50mm 1.8. Total came to about $3k but a few months later we received a rebate check for $450 plus the $30 referral bonus.

I told someone else on this site about Rakuten earlier in the year and they thought I was trying to scam them? Anyway, it’s legit and I’d gladly email the link if anyone wants to give it a shot since right now the referral bonus is an extra $40 to both parties.

I tried it and it took me to the canon website. And then it asked me to login to the canon site. Is this normal? Do you see anything different when checking out and paying on the canon site?

As long as you entered by first going to Rakuten and obviously have an account with them, then searching for Canon and clicking on their link it will bring you to Canon and yes you will sign in to your Canon account as usual and shop as usual. Other than going through Rakuten first, the rest is business as usual. After your purchase you can go to your Rakuten account and you’ll see your purchase and your rebate balance. My take a day to see it.
