About overlapping subjects? Well Meyerowitz and Robert Frank are two of many that did it. The first image you have the out of fucus guy applauding in the foreground. That subject placement gives the image a depth it wouldn't have otherwise. It also shows how he and thus the crowd approves of the kiss and thus the ceremony. But keeping the focus clearly on the couple. There is a famous Robert Frank photograph "Movie Premiere, Hollywood, 1956" that has a similar approach.

See Robert Franks "Motorcycle Rider, Newburgh, New York (from The Americans), Listen to God, New York 1955, just to point out a few and Meyerowitz has many images that have overlapping subjects. There are so many more examples that can be shown and from many different great photographers so take a lot of online advice with a grain of salt.
Like Kent I like the first image. I think it shows the emotion of not only the couple but the people watching. Well done..
