After getting back from Italy recently I really gave some thought to my city walk around kit and I've tried a few options. Eventually I settled on an A7RV because of the 20-70mm lens. 75% of my normal city shooting would be in that range. I also got the new 70-200 f4 for longer stuff.

To that I'm going to add a 12-14mm prime. Generally, if I need wide, I need WIDE. I think 12 or 14mm is more useful than 16mm. I have the 12-24G which is good except for awful flare. And it's pretty big. So I'm thinking about one of the wide CV lenses or the 14mm 2.8 Samyang. I have the 14-24 in L mount and it's fabulous so that's a contender as well, if I can go for the size of a zoom.

So for me it'll be a 20-70 on an A7R5(maybe A7CR later) and a Samyang 14mm and 70-200 in a small hip bag. Maybe I'll sneak in my 55mm 1.8.....

at 12mm I think the 12-24 is more useful, because 12mm is too rarely used. In my experience after switching to a wide prime I end up switching out pretty quickly (I had 15, 17, 24, 35, 40, 50mm). A 12-24 will greatly reduce your lens switching frequency since the 24mm end is a high use focal length

My working theory to cut down on kit is to use primes for frequently used focal lengths (24, 35, 50) and zooms for infrequently used focal lengths

That said the 10/5.6 is interesting, because we cannot achieve 10mm with a zoom yet
