i agree with you about the PD strap.
actually those pucks hold up pretty darn well after they got through the first 2 generations. yes the backside of the lock assy is metal and a little electrical tape goes a long way there. the 3rd gen is pretty useful for some stuff. i have a few but not for their straps except for my RX100 and binocs.
other then that i have little use for pretty much most of their stuff in general.
