Landscape/Astro - trade the wide angle f2.8 for 4.0 & a fast prime? | |
I am a landscape shooter and also enjoy the night sky as well. I just switched camera brands, and and currently running an adapted 14-24 Sigma f2.8 on my Sony body. This lens is a beast as it is, and the adapter pushes the center of gravity out even further. I love the lens, hate the weight, bulkiness, awkwardness, etc. I am surely going to get rid of the adapter and lens, but what should I buy? The only reason I have the wide angle f2.8 in my bag is for the night sky.
Option 1 - get another Sigma 14-24 f2.8 for E-mount (sony version is a little less bulky, and obviously no adapter, but its still a beast)
Option 2 - wide angle 14-24 / 16-35 (or equivalent) f4.0 for landscape. It will be light weight, small in size, easy to hike with, etc. Then get a fast prime like a 20mm or 24mm f1.x for the night sky.
