Does anyone yet know......

If and where there is a Z9 video of an animal running or flying at full speed, in the direction of the camera?

Sorry if this has already been posted. I might have missed it.

Thanks

Q 1: Why is the shutter sound on, starting at the beginning of the dog's run (5:00)? . It's a video.

Q 2: And what about AF-F? Isn’t that the suggested video-focusing mode? I’m still confused about this detail. And that chocolate-colored Collie is a video. Why does he have the shutter sound on?

Thanks to Buckeye for this vid, in Z9 Repository thread. Reference the rugby pile-ups: Are they far enough away, that DOF alone, assures that the entire pile is in focus?

Regarding fast-moving animals, the evidence for Z9 AF in video mode, begins at 5:00

One commenter in the “Public Comment” section to this YT vid, made the following statement:

"Much less demanding when tracking dogs with focus already locked on. Should have started test with dog already running and camera pointing elsewhere. Still, great results with demanding situations. Test with using large area auto initially and switching to 3D after acquiring focus would have been nice. Thank you for the efforts.”

The commenter is right.

And I also should mention this: Come to think of it, I have proof of my D850/80-400AFS combo doing the same thing, repeatedly, with several different dogs, at the beach. This combo keeps every frame (Auto AF at 9fps) of the very fastest dogs in focus, when running straight at me.

CORRECTION: I keep mixing the two; i.e. video AF and image AF. My D850 video AF does not do motion well (imo). But it does the great job in stills in Auto AF.

So, the Z9 will greatly improve my work. And I will be getting it.

Another interesting feature of mirrorless, was brought to our attention by George DeCamp, sjms, and a few others: Apparently, the F mount lenses are performing better on the Z9 vs DSLR bodies. I think sjms (maybe someone else) mentioned that a certain clicking (or clacking?) noise had disappeared when one of his lenses focused Z9 vs DSLR.

From day one of purchase, my 80-400AFS sometimes made a (somewhat annoying) clicking noise when focusing.

It will be interesting to hear if this sound disappears with my Z9.
