Re: Nikon Z-Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/0.95 lens US price: $7,996.95 | |
What is the point?
I did not try yet the new Noct S, however I did order one and No, I do not intend to use it as it will remain in it's carton and black box.
I do not shoot night stars and rarely shoot Posed Portraits and it will be a waste of time shooting Active Portraits or Fashion,
I guess, there would be a use for video work as long as you are in medium shot or to call it properly an American shot and definitely no close up with moving subjects at f.95/f.1.8.
1- The official video clip "Moments" shows stopped down close ups shots with a "voilée" effect and the other shots are wide open.
2- There is minimum camera movement and it is a horizental movement perpendicular to the plane i.e. Panning or Trucking.
3- There is no footage to evaluate the lens color temp and RGB render type. All I could spot are the yellows of the little girl - the cats eyes and the tramway. Now there is a reason not to show the RGB colours and only the different shades of yellows which is a mix of RGB and I dread to find out why and to assess all colours.
4- Cats eyes on the lens periphery are noticeable.
5- Cost wise, it is on the expensive side for a still camera lens even if it is a specila lens.
However, it is at par with PL - PV - CP.... etc mounts .
In fact. the new Noct S is a two trick ponnies. The first is for video and the second is to annoy the neighbours.
So what's the point?
