I worked in an industry where we built out own sensors ( camera, lasers, LED's all in a box ). We spent a lot of effort and cost ensuring everything was properly aligned and every sensor we shipped out was as perfect as we could possibly get it.
Now the catch...these sensors cost $30,000. If you are willing to pony up the cost of the extra QA required to ensure every lens going out of the plant is perfect...then I'm sure the manufacturer will oblige. Big problem is...no one will pony up to the cost.
I picked up a replacement copy this morning, gave it a test, and it's perfect.
I didn't have to "pony" up any extra cost for the QA that should be done correctly before shipping from the manufacturer.
