D850 vs D7200

A gear question - hope it's OK in this forum.

I currently use a D7200 with the 16-80mm and 70-200mm f/4 lenses as my main lenses. I enjoy landscapes/travel photos mainly, with an interest in wildlife that isn't well developed. Many folks suggest that full frame cameras are preferred for landscapes (dynamic range, better wide angle options) but it is not a universal opinion.

I am debating shifting from a D7200 to a full frame Nikon. The D850 is the most interesting option but a D810 or D750 could also be considered. However, if I made the shift, I'd also need to replace my 16-80mm lens. I'm not keen on using multiple primes. A shift to FF would be expensive and I wonder how big the benefit would be? But, if I am going to do it, given my age, I should do it now, not wait a couple of years And, I am not interested in mirrorless.

I'd be interested on opinions on these questions:

  1. Would the switch to a full frame help produce better images? I recognize the producing a good image depends on more than your gear (composition, light, the location, etc.) and that a FF camera won't help with those.
  2. What lens would you suggest to replace the 16-80mm? A 24-70mm is an 'obvious' choice but covers a shorter focal length range. The 24-120mm gets mixed reviews. On my last trip, I found that 30% of my images with the 16-80mm were at 80mm, with 50% of them being at focal lengths that would be longer than 70mm FF, suggesting that the 24-70mm lens may not be a good choice for my current shooting style, despite the great performance it offers.
