Trip Report - BC Bear Trip

Just returned from Tweedsmuir Park Lodge near Bella Coola and had a great trip. The lodge is right on the Antnarko River and daily activities include a drift down the river on a boat and a hike to various places. The guides and staff at Tweedsmuir were first rate, but our timing would have been better if we had come about two weeks later when there were more salmon in the river and more bears fishing. As it was we saw about 14 bears so not bad at all. FYI, there are no waterfalls like in Brooks Falls where the bears gather so they're more spread out.

The lodge has two private viewing platforms for bears, one on the property you can visit from 7-7 and one where you need a guide for safety. Since the activities begin around 9am and go to about 5pm there's time to go to the stands which we did daily.

The scenery there is just breathtaking, this is a valley formed by the Bella Coola River and surrounded by 7-8,000 foot mountains. Quite a difference from the Los Angeles area!

Here are some images out of the hundreds I shot, comments welcome.

Thanks for looking,
BOB

PS - all shot with the EM1 Mark 2 and Lumix 100-400
