A few barns left but no owls | |
Despite its widespread distribution, the Barn owl is considered an endangered species both Canada-wide and provincially in Ontario. In the past 10-15 years I have not heard of one sighting report, let alone seen a wild Barn owl in Ontario. Thankfully, the Canadian Raptor Conservancy own a few specimens, and at least one of them has been falconry trained. Therefore I was able to observe and photograph the owl on a few occasions.
These shots have been taken with a variety of Canon equipment, on different days. I am not even sure we are looking at one and the same owl individual.
Firstly, here are a few static shots.
