Sierra crest first light

The morning after I shot Mobius Arch I went back to the same area to see what the sunrise might bring to the Sierra crest. The sky to the east was clear, but unfortunately so was the sky the west, so there was no opportunity to play the mountains against colorful clouds. Still, it was fascinating to watch and capture the change in color projected on the mountains as the sun rose higher. And I know that this has been done a million times, but it was still a cool experience for me to capture it in person.

These were all shot with a 70-200 f/4 at from 155 to 200 mm, with from 7 to 10 frames. They really look better the larger they are viewed, but I\'m including a screen-sized version of each to give a view of the whole scene at once.

Edit: Not sure if it is the site or the browser that resizes the larger one, but I guess you have to click on it to see the full-size version.
