 Trying out some new hardware | |
I recently upgraded from my D3100 to a D7100, and now I\'m looking for a little more reach than my 70-300 lens. So I rented the 300mm f/4 AF-S and a 1.7TC to see if I like that combination. I started with some shots of my neighborhood Red-Tailed Hawks, and then went in search of other birds this morning. The sky was very overcast this morning, making it a lot tougher for me to get decent skies today, but I tried anyway.
These are mostly hand held, as I wanted to see if I could manage to get decent shots that way. And even with the extra reach, they are fairly significant crops. This lens may not be very heavy compared to many big lenses, but it still tired me out a little. But over all, I think the extra reach, and the sharpness of this lens (even with the TC) is a good improvement over my 70-300. It would probably be even better once I got more practice with it. I may still try out some other lenses first, though.
