If you are a lens collector or aspire to become one , here is your chance to shed the shackles of minimalistic gear thoughts and indulge in virtual opulence.

Great question. I would get 20 copies of the 50mm f/1.8. Think of the advantages!

1. Everyone knows that real photographers shoot with 50mm primes and zoom with their feet!

2. I hear that this lens has a wonderful 3-D effect and powerful drawing abilities, not to mention luminous colors and the ability to control diffraction.

3. Since we all know that companies like Canon have abominable quality control, with 50 copies I\'ll be able to subject them to very careful side by side comparisons (just need to figure out how to connect 49 more monitors to my iMac, but I\'m sure that isn\'t a real problem) and figure out which is the very best 50mm lens among them.

4. When equipment conversations come up, I\'ll be able to both impress and completely baffle and astound others. First, I will actually own more lenses than anyone else! Second, once I offer my explanations and the arcane and wonderful technicalities that underly them, by theories will seem to bizarre and incomprehensible and downright radical that I\'m likely to develop a devoted - though perhaps small - following.

5. Unlike others who might own 20 lenses and be faced with difficult decisions about which among them to choose, I\'ll be able to quickly and confidently select the best choice from among all of my options. (I also won\'t have to haul around quite as much stuff.)

6. On those occasions when practicalities prevent me from carrying all twenty of my lenses, my[/] decision about which to bring along and which to leave at home will be simple and clear.

7. The only explanation for my choice will appear to be utter madness or a form of brilliance and out of the box thinking that only a few are capable of. I will maintain that my choice is proof of the latter.

8. It costs a lot less than buying 20 800mm Canon primes.
