Nowhere near as good as some of the images this week, but I'd thought I'd submit anyway as opposed to sitting and doing nothing.

Have aquired a flash sound trigger, so have been trying it out. Still a lot to learn about setup, but this was one of my favourite trial images.

Andy - Very nicely done. Perfect timing on the shot. Gotta like sugar cubes.

What kind of trigger did you use, I have been toying with that idea as well? Good luck this week. Steve

Ahh, timing is cheating- I used an acoustic flash trigger to trigger the flash. The shutter was on bulb, and everything was in a dark room.

I was hoping to get the cube in the centre of the cup more, but as it was dark aiming wasn't easy! I need to make a jig up to dispense them accurately.

I've been meaning to get in to high speed photography for a while. The flash trigger came just in time on Monday for the assignment. Most of the shots I took were just trials, learning how it worked. I was hoping one or two might be good enough for the assignment until I could do something better.

I've got some technically imperfect, but nonetheless amazing shots as the cubes go in. What happens to the coffee that we don't see is quite astounding. Might post some more when I get home.

What kind of flash are you using? On-camera or studio, or speed light off camera?

I was using either a speedlite 430 or 580 EXII. I think it was the 430, but either will do.

It was mounted off camera on a tripod. I find then it's easier to move around and get the lighting I want, and intensity.
