Looks like a great idea. I think I'll get me a GH2.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Hmm...interesting. I might be tempted to pick one up for my GH2, but only for occasional use, so the price would have to be right. Since the whole point of m4/3 is smaller size, the grip wouldn't be on for me most of the time...I don't even keep my A/S plate on it unless I know I'm going to do tripod work. That said, if I do dump the rest of my Canon gear, I'd probably get this for doing studio work. It'd make portrait work much nicer. Since that's a pretty good possibility, this could be nice. It does seem from the picture, though, that there's not native support for controls through the grip, and it requires a connection via wire to the side of the camera...wonder if it'll allow anything other than a shutter release (like, the back wheel....which will be crucial for this to be viable IMO.

A battery grip is a great idea, however, this one looks a bit poorly designed, at least from looks alone.

Looks like they followed the Canon school of design which results in a grip that just doesn't intergrate well into the lines of the camera and as such not only flexes but also feels rather uncomfortable.

Nikon on the other hand has grips that really match the shape and curves of the camera and very closely match the feel of the normal grip. The D300/700 grip is a perfect example of one that doesn't feel like an add on, but rather a solid part of the camera. Just flows together with the camera shape and zero flex.

This one for the GH series looks like its going to feel a bit out of place, and I wonder how well its going to work with a heavier lens like a 100-300 and if it will require frequent tightening.

Still a good step forward overall, but I just had too see a grip that looks/feels like a foreign object rather than a part of the camera

I think this grip is interesting for long time-lapses, for example, but I don't see the GH2 in the list (G2, G1, GH1, G10).

I don't think the GH2 is in the list because the battery is different. Different arrangement of terminals. Maybe it needs to mate to the terminals in order to feed juice to the camera.

Anyway, I would not try it for a GH2.

Unfortunately it's the only option. It's not that we have a better one that we can choose. If you want a battery grip it's either this or nothing.

I'd love to see a better one from Panasonic.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
