I think pinnacles, while interesting, will be very disappointing if you are familiar with utah or arizona scenery. I would recommend sticking to SF (treasure island, marine headlands). If you are unfamiliar with coastal scenery, point reyes is decent but again, if you come from oregon or washington, you might be disappointed. Basically what I am saying is that you should stick to unique aspects of SF bay area, namely san francisco, possibly redwoods, and some nice rolling hills (Russian ridge, Monte Bello open preserve come to mind). If you insist on seeing some lush scenery, big basin has some nice waterfalls but it is a long hike and really washington state is probably better in these types of vistas. flickr 3 by shoenberg3, on Flickr

As much as I like Washington, and I really do, I have yet to find all that many redwood trees there...
And as one who photographs in the SF Bay Area all year every year, may I humbly suggest that there may be more potential here than you have seen? :-)
