Here are some shots from my Sony NEX5 using the Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 lens. I used the tilt-transformer as an adapter, although I didn't try the tilt ability (I'll post some results on that later). Those were taken on top of Mount Lafayette, NH.

Isn't it kind of unwieldy lugging around a lens that size with what amounts to an attached pocket-sized sensor?

The two of them paired must make an amusing sight.

Well it looks kinda weird at the first sight, but it's still lighter than carrying a D300s with that lens. I also have a tilt possibility. Plus, I don't like the 16mm f2.8 that came with the NEX5 !

I'd like to see a picture of the camera rig. I guess you hold the lens, not the body

I'm looking at the tilt-transformer with the GF-1 right now. B&H has a sweet deal on them.

Doesn't everyone hold both anyway?

beat me to it. even shooting a body with a built in vertical grip i use my left hand on the lens to support most of the weight. the right hand works the camera and adds a little balance. the only exceptions to this are pancake lenses. i guess if i shot more with autofocus i might be more tempted to shoot one handed. i was always taught that there is more stability holding the lens than the camera though.

that last image is spectacular by the way!

I hope you had a tent as well as that weird looking head tent thingy. You got lucky with the weather by the look of the skies. I also would like to see a picture of the lens on the body; one was posted with a ZA 24/2 on it last week, you could barely even see the camera ;-)

At 440 grams, Sony's new A55 is a mere 160 grams heavier than the tiny NEX and takes the same battery, with an 16Mp sensor.

Still trying to picture how you balance it. Can't be too convenient holding it near the zoom ring while. Seems best suited on a beanbag or pillow. Some things were never meant to "mate" in nature, I guess...
