When I saw this week's subject, I thought of some rock formations I had seen in the Valley of Fire. Here is what I came up with. Good luck all!

Excellent title, love the subject. Personally I'd pop the color a little more but I'm a color junkie so take that with a grain of salt.

Good idea. I never would have thought about the lines in rock, but they are often well defined as they are here.

From a geometric point of view, I actually like the second one better. The layers of the rock, in addition to the "bathtub rings" conveys more of a lineal perception..

One another note...not only does this image suggest the head of an elephant, but I see a face in those rocks as well...and the moon..you captured quite a lot with this one...

I was thinking foot of a brontosaurus until I saw the second one. Lovely colors and image.

Thanks for the comments. This was one of the final 3 choices. I thought the lines on the one I posted stood out a little better? Yes, I see the face! It it is an amazing piece of nature. Thanks for the kind words!

I love them both. But I agree with Greg on the second one. The lines and banding are more symmetrical for me.

But the lighting and lines are better in the first one. You clearly had some tough choices.

YES.I love this i see the face in the top left with the eye and the mouth looking toward the right,with the cool rock head dress,But do you see the little coyote face.You have to look real hard.great job, beautiful shot,Kelly
