p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · If and how much Macro possible with m4/3?

I have been taking flower closeups for couple of years and have always been thinking about going for real macro. This time I am seriously considering jumping in.

Now my question is about gear. After keeping DSLR at home most of the time, I decided to go m4/3 and have been happy as I am photographing 200% more that what I used to be. But I am wondering if and how much real macro is possible with m4/3 setup.

I have Oly E-P1, 14-42, 20mm and considering buying Panasonic/Leica 45mm for macro. But before that I am looking for advise on how much macro I would be able to do with this setup or is it better toget APS-C and macro lens setup?

If you are keeping the EP1 why not get Oly's excellent 35mm f3.5 for around 150US second hand and see if you really want to do macro? Or the better Oly 50mm f2 for around 400US S/H. They are not designed for your cam but would be fully functional on it with the adapter.

Thanks Mark. I have been asking opinion on 35/50 with PEN, but so far could not find anyone who could give me first hand experience.

You might find people with experience of this combination on DPreview - the Oly SLR or Micro Four Thirds forum. I don't know of anyone here.

You need only look at Mark's work on this forum to see that macro is, indeed, possible with m4/3. He does excellent work IMO.

I have a gf1 and the 45mm macro lens. If you are serious about macro and can afford it go for this lens. It is sharp with good bouquet, and also takes nice portraits. Haven't tried landscapes but have seen some and they are good also.
